Another step toward living your best life is starting your health journey if you haven’t already. Taking a conscious step to take better care of your physical health is one essential part of improving your overall well-being. Learning healthier eating habits and becoming more active can do a world of good for your mental health as well. Make the effort to plan your meals, cook at home more, and incorporate some regular exercise are additional ways to set yourself up for long-term success. When you feel good, you look good. After that, there’s almost nothing you can’t accomplish.
It doesn’t have to be all or nothing, making small changes is key when beginning a conscious health journey. Try starting by swapping out some foods you eat for better alternatives, incorporate more whole foods into your diet—add in a few more leafy greens and fresh fruits and drink a couple more glasses of water (dehydration can make us feel hungry). Find ways to move your body more throughout the day in your daily activities, like walking up a flight of stairs instead of taking the lift, park your car a little further from where you have to go so you clock in some extra steps, dance around while you vacuum or mop the floors it makes the chore a lot more fun not to mention a bigger calorie burn. If you feel safe to do so, take an evening walk or do some yoga stretches at home (highly beneficial if you sit for long periods during the day).
It’s all about balance when it comes to sustainable healthy habits, be realistic and listen to your body, know where your health is at before you start, it’s necessary to take baby steps and know your body’s limitations. If you’re newer to healthy living practices it’s always a good idea to consult your doctor first before embarking on any exercise and eating plan, it’s never a good idea to start a restrictive eating regime that will ultimately crash or to buy an expensive gym membership or equipment that you will never really use (many of us have fallen into that trap, we start with good intentions then stop), incorporating exercise into your life doesn’t have to cost you money. It’s all about moving your body and getting your heart rate up so you’re breathing a bit heavier and doing this for about 30 mins if you are able to.
